What happens when self-care becomes an aesthetic display of pampering through products and not a mindset? My question is: Would you buy it?
Self-care has been a big hit for the past five years. Allowing ourselves to become a better version of ourselves in the long run, and taking care of ourselves on the daily is a great practice to have.
Yet, when the narrative turns from being healthy to looking your best with a high-maintenance mindset, it cues consumerist brands to plug in their secret sauce (read lotion/serum/gel) and show them the money!
